Contestant Class

The first IMsL competition consisted of a Meet & Great at the Eagle (?) and a single night event at Clvb DV8 at 540 Howard St. in San Francisco.  Cost for advance tickets was $20 or $25 at the door. The organization began in the fall of 1986 in the shadow of AIDS impacting the San Francisco leather community.  From the original program, it was also born of the need and desire for women to express pride and dignity as members of that leather community.  The organizing body was called International Ms Leather, Inc and consisted of Mistress Kathy, Peter Rath and Sky Renfro.  Judges were Barbara Behr, Tattoo Blue, Mistress Carole, Helen Ruvelas, Kat Sunlove, L. Thorn, JimEd Thompson, Alan Selby and Patrick Toner.  Proceeds went to benefit The AIDS Emergency Fund, Coming Home Hospice, Women’s AIDS Network, AIDS Alternative  Healing Project and AWARE.
